About EBI

The Egyptian Banking Institute (EBI) is a non-profit organization operating under the auspices of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) since 1991. EBI’s Board of Directors (BOD) was formerly chaired by his Excellency the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt; Dr. Farouk El Okdah, followed by his excellency newly appointed Dr. Hisham Ramez in February 2013 along with Board of Directors comprising top strategic banking specialists and executives.

Since 2003, the Institute has experienced significant growth and development in terms of the size and diversity of its constituency, training facilities, internal resources and most importantly, its training services and products. Through the Institute’s longstanding reputation as a professional training provider, the Institute was able to effectively broaden its reach to the financial sector at large in the Arab Republic of Egypt and to the surrounding region, thereby achieving an integral component of the Institute’s newly revised mission and vision.

As part of its institutional goals EBI considers program development and improvement as a critical activity to its success. As such, the Institute’s core programming in banking and financial disciplines is augmented with an ever increasing demand for management, human resources, and other “soft” skills, including English for special purposes and information technology.

Additionally, through its extensive network of international and local professional relationships, the Institute is also able to provide its constituency with a variety of seminars, conferences and workshops presented by reputable experts and organizations in the financial and training fields, such as the Center for Financial and Economic Research and Studies (CFERS) and the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), on topics related to current trends, issues and activities affecting the national and global marketplace. Similarly, through international cooperation and partnerships with international training providers, such as the University of Wisconsin – Madison, Graduate School of Banking, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the European Bank Training Network (EBTN), EBI has provided its participants and internal staff with scholarship opportunities to study abroad and gain international experience.

EBI’s value for international standardization, adoption of best practices, contribution to Egypt’s financial sector modernization, and competition within the region and international economies is evidenced by its voluntary commitment to pursue international accreditation from the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET) which is a certifying American agency officially recognized by the U.S. Department of Education since 1978 as a reliable authority and the only recognized accrediting agency that is certified as an ISO 9001 - Quality Management System.
In April 15, 2009 EBI received a formal notification from ACCET of their decision to accredit EBI for the term of five years which is the maximum ACCET accreditation term. The success of this project has advanced the institute firmly towards its commitment to lead the national and regional community in adopting industry benchmarks and international quality standards for professional training and development in both banking and financial sectors.

Now, EBI is given the distinction of being the first ACCET accredited banking and financial training institute in Egypt and the region which rendered a unique competitive advantage for EBI in the market. This distinctive advantage allows EBI to satisfy professional certification and development qualifications for Continuing Education Units for all its training courses as well as the Credit Hours for its certificates.

  3. Working in close partnership with our Member Banks we create demand-driven programs that meet their specific training requirements. In ongoing dialogue with member banks, we adapt all course curricula and training methodologies to address the specific needs of the local banking sector without losing sight of the international context.
  4. As the interface between the banking industry and the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) we facilitate mutual understanding and communication between the market and its regulator. Through public activities and research services, we translate the regulatory concerns of the CBE to member organizations and communicate to the CBE about the banking sector's practical needs and concerns.
