The ACCA Qualification: The new ACCA Qualification is designed to provide the accounting knowledge, skills and professional values which will deliver finance professionals who are capable of building successful careers across all sectors, whether they are working in the public or private sectors, practicing in accounting firms or pursuing a career in business. Requirements for ACCA Qualification: Individuals must have obtained university matriculation or equivalent before they can register as an ACCA student. Students who complete the Certified Accounting Technician will be given exemption from F1, F2 and F3. In order to qualify as an ACCA member any individual must register on the ACCA website (www.accaglobal.com) then it will be required to complete the following:
I – Exams: Skills module exams and all Professional level exams (please see modules below) will be three-hours long and will make use of a range of assessment methods such as short-answer questions, extended computational exercises, essays, scenarios and case studies. The exams are offered in June and December over an eight day period, with one session exams each day. Therefore it is not possible for students to sit exams that are held on the same day, e.g. students cannot sit Paper F6 with Paper P6.
II - Relevant Practical Experience: Students will be awarded affiliate status if they complete all the exams but do not have sufficient relevant experience and/or have not completed the online Professional ethics module necessary foe full membership. On completion of all the exams, the online Professional ethics module and three-years relevant practical experience, students will be awarded membership of ACCA and permitted to use the ACCA designator letters after their name. · Recording Practical Experience Trainees will record their achievements through an online trainee development matrix (TDM), which they access via myACCA using their secure login. The TDM will provide the individual trainee with a valuable record of their workplace achievements recorded through answering challenge questions. When these achievements are reviewed and signed off by a workplace mentor, the performance objective is achieved. Trainees can also use this facility to print out reports on their progress and maintain a virtual CV. The online tool will lead trainees through the process of identifying performance objectives they may be capable of achieving as well as providing assistance when describing and evaluating experience gained. A paper-based version of the TDM will be available for trainees who do not have internet access but they have to retain hard copies of their responses to the challenges questions and of performance objectives reviewed, signed off and therefore achieved, as ACCA may require viewing these for monitoring purposes. III – Online Professional Ethics Module: Students will be required to complete an online training module, developed by ACCA. This will give them exposure to a range of ethical perspectives, and includes several self-tests which will require them to reflect on their own ethical behavior and values. They will be able to apply what they have learned in a case study where they can experience an audit situation from two points of view – that of the auditor and the corporate financial accountant. Students will be given access to the Professional Ethics module as soon as they become eligible to take Paper 1, Professional Accountant. It is recommended that students take the Professional Ethics module at the same time as, or before, the Professional Accountant paper is taken. While students have the flexibility to complete the ethics module at their own convenience, it must be completed before applying for full ACCA membership. BSc Honours Degree in Applied Accounting: In addition a degree in applied accounting continues to be offered from “Oxford Brookes University” OBU to students who wish to complete a degree while studying towards the ACCA Qualification. Students will continue to be able to obtain their degree, awarded by the OBU, upon the completion of the fundamental level, the online Professional Ethics module and by demonstrating their research, analysis, interpersonal and IT skills by completing a Research and Analysis Project*. This is subject to revalidation of the Bask degree by OBU. *Please note that this degree must be applied for before registering for the F7, F8 & F9 modules.More Information Visit www.accaglobal.com Or email to info@accaglobal.com Or telephone +44(0) 141 582 2000 |
